Chakras
Chakras have been described as spinning wheels of light placed either on the front or the back of the body, capable of channelling energy through them to keep the body in optimal functioning conditions.
Energy is everything, and everything is energy, therefore chakras can be detected not only in humans, but also in animals, plants, our planet, and the entire universe.
When the chakra system is in imbalance, it is reflected in the physical body and labelled by the medical science as dis-ease. The lack of ease and harmonious flow in our energy field is then manifested into the physical by tissue and organ malfunction, abnormal growth, etc. A complete and total chaos with its origins in something as simple as an energetic imbalance.
The same energetic imbalance when transferred into the emotional aspect of our human nature is creating abnormal emotional responses to everyday life situation, or if we relate the dis-ease to the mind, – when not caused by chemical deficiencies in the brain – can distort the perception of the environment.
7 Chakra System
There are 7 main physical chakras spaced out along the vertical central axis, from the pubic bone to the top of the head, attached to and feeding their energies into the spinal column’s energetic flow. Life flowers with their stem into the spinal column, and heads opening and closing in a mesmerising rhythm, these seven chakras are as follows:
1. Root Chakra
Colour: RED
Element: EARTH
Location: Base of the Spine
Strongly connected to Earth, this chakra is related to survival, security, stability, and the materialistic foundations of our lives.
Root Chakra Mantra: I AM – confident, full of energy
Crystals: Tigers Eye, Bloodstone, Hematite, Red Jade, Obsidian, Black Tourmaline, Smokey Quartz
When imbalanced – confidence is replaced by anxiety, fear, and scattered energies
Healing foods: onion, garlic, radishes, beets
2. SACRAL Chakra
Colour: ORANGE
Element: WATER
Location: Approximately 3 finger widths bellow the navel
This chakra represents the Creative and sexual energies
Sacral Mantra: I FEEL – creative, resourceful
Crystals: Citrine, Carnelian, Orange Calcite, Peach Moonstone, Orange Aventurine, Red Jasper
When imbalanced – repressed intimacy, emotional isolation, sexual dysfunction, and lack of or repressed creativity.
Healing foods: oranges, coconuts, melons, cinnamon
3. Solar Plexus
Colour: YELLOW
Element: FIRE
Location: Approximately 3 finger widths above the navel
This chakra represents self-esteem, will power, and self-care
Solar Plexus Mantra: I KNOW instinctively (gut awareness)
Crystals: Yellow Calcite, Amber, Citrine, Gold Topaz, Tigers Eye, Pyrite
When imbalanced – control issues, manipulative tendencies, low self-esteem, misuse of power

4. Heart Chakra
Colour: GREEN
Element: AIR
Location: Centre of the chest
This chakra represents love, compassion, happiness
Heart Mantra: I LOVE
Crystals: Rose Quartz, Green Aventurine, Jade, Rhodochrosite, Rhodonite, Malachite, Green Tourmaline
When imbalanced – depression, fear of intimacy, jealousy, overly defensive

5. Throat Chakra
Colour: LIGHT BLUE
Element: Ether (Akashic field)
Location: Centre of the neck or above the lower lip
This chakra represents the ability to communicate clearly and to listen
Throat Chakra Mantra: I EXPRESS myself clearly
Crystals: Blue Lace Agate, Aquamarine, Turquoise, Sodalite, Blue Kyanite, Blue Topaz, Lapis Lazuli
When imbalanced – shyness, increased anxiety, withdrawal, arrogance

6. Third Eye Chakra
Colour: INDIGO
Element: LIGHT
Location: Centre of the forehead
This chakra represents intuition, foresight, openness, awareness, and imagination
Third Eye Mantra: I SEE through the veil
Crystals: Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli, Purple Fluorite, Iolite, Blue Sapphire, Sodalite
When imbalanced – feeling stuck, living in illusion and fantasies, lack of clarity and direction
Healing foods: salmon, purple cabbage, blueberries, blackberries
7. Crown Chakra
Colour: VIOLET
Element: NONE
Location: Top of the head
This chakra represents divine connection and states of higher consciousness
Crown Chakra Mantra: I REMEMBER my divine origin
Crystals: Clear Quartz, Selenite, Fluorite, Labradorite, Amethyst, Diamond
When imbalanced – cynicism, disconnection with the divine, closed mindedness, loss or disregard of sacredness
