Labradorite

According to Inuit legends, Labradorite is said to have fallen from the Aurora Borealis, a stone that possesses the ability to transform from an ordinary rock to an extraordinary gem, shimmering with a mystical light that separates the waking world from unseen realms. Labradorite is regarded as a Stone of Magic and is prized by shamans, diviners, healers, and all those who seek knowledge and guidance from the universe. This crystal has the ability to awaken an individual’s awareness of their inner spirit, intuition, and psychic abilities, making it a great tool for self-discovery.

Labradorite is also considered to be the most powerful protector of the mineral kingdom, creating a shielding force throughout one’s aura and strengthening natural energies from within. It can protect against negativity and misfortunes in this world, as well as facilitating safe exploration into alternate levels of consciousness and visionary experiences from the past or future.

As a member of the Feldspar family, Labradorite is renowned for its remarkable play of colour, also known as labradorescence. The stone typically appears grey-green, dark grey, black, or greyish-white and is composed of aggregate layers that refract light, producing iridescent flashes of peacock blue, gold, pale green, or coppery red. The predominant blue varies within the light, displaying hues from the deepest blue to various shades of pale, almost blue-green.

Discovered by Moravian missionaries in Labrador, Canada in 1770, Labradorite has been referenced in legends by older Inuit tribes and was known to be in use by the Red Paint People of Maine for over a thousand years. It became popular in Europe during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. There are rarer varieties of Labradorite, such as Golden Labradorite, which is a transparent gold or champagne colour, and Spectrolite, an intense variety that displays the entire colour spectrum and was discovered in Finland in the 1940s.

Wearing or carrying Labradorite allows an individual’s innate magical powers to surface, enhancing mental and intuitive abilities such as clairvoyance, telepathy, prophecy, and coincidence control. It assists in communication with higher guides and spirits and accessing Akashic records, psychic readings, and past-life recall. Labradorite also makes it easier to move between worlds and permits a safe and grounded return to the present.

Labradorite can temper the negative aspects of an individual’s personality, such as traits and actions that may rob them of energy or produce depression or shame. It can assist in reducing anti-social, reckless, or impulsive behaviour in children, teenagers, and adults who are easily led astray. Overall, Labradorite is a remarkable gemstone with a multitude of benefits for those who seek its guidance and healing properties.

Labradorite has numerous healing properties that can assist with physical, emotional, and spiritual imbalances. It has been utilised for centuries as a powerful energy healer, capable of reducing stress, calming an overactive mind, and increasing personal magic. Labradorite is particularly helpful in treating respiratory problems, bronchitis, and colds. It has also been known to alleviate pain associated with menstruation and PMS symptoms.

The therapeutic uses of Labradorite have been well-documented and have been proven to be effective in treating a variety of ailments. It is beneficial to the lungs, aiding in digestion, regulation, and metabolism. It is also effective in reducing blood pressure, alleviating rheumatism, and gout, and reducing sensitivity to cold.

Labradorite is a powerful tool for bringing forgotten memories to light, encouraging contemplation and introspection, and providing clarity of intellectual thought and intuitive wisdom. It helps dispel illusions, determine the root cause of an issue, and bring one to peace. As the matriarch of the subconscious mind, Labradorite is an uplifting crystal that helps banish fears and insecurities while enhancing faith and reliance in oneself and trust in the universe.

This crystal has the power to calm an overactive mind, energise the imagination, and bring in innovative ideas. It is a wonderful tool for returning joy and spontaneity back to one’s life. It eliminates the emotional drain of daily routine or being weighed down by responsibility and awakens a sense of adventure and change.

Labradorite resonates with the Crown Chakra, allowing the energy that springs upward from the lower chakras to continue its path enabling free expression and natural release. The darker shades of blue in Labradorite encourage the power of truth, while lighter shades carry the power of flexibility, relaxation, and balance. Labradorite, with its iridescent flashes of colour, can be beneficial in uniting all the physical chakras of the human body. With its numerous benefits and versatile properties, Labradorite is truly a powerful healing crystal.
