Amber

Amber, a treasure coveted by many, is a product of nature and a biological gem that has been preserved over millions of years. As one of the oldest treasures of the world, it has been deemed a “Gold of the Sea” and is intrinsically formed by light and life, providing beauty, protection, and renewal for humanity. Its magical and medicinal properties have been utilized since the Stone Age for its warmth of colour and value in adornment. 

Although Amber does not belong to the category of crystals or minerals, it is a biological product that originated from protective resin, which oozed from living trees in dense, prehistoric forests and fossilized over time. Its energetic and healing properties make it highly prized in the metaphysical world, as it carries the marvellous Life Force and holds a strong connection to the sun, earth, insects, organisms, and plant matter that are forever suspended within its golden structure. Although Amber comes mainly from the Baltic region, such as Russia, Poland, and Lithuania, there is also production in Chiapas in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Burma, and recently Sumatra in Indonesia. With a hardness of 2 to 2.5, Amber can be transparent to opaque and ranges in colour from a whitish and pale yellow to the most common honey yellow/orange/brown hues associated with the colour “amber” and deep brown. 

Amber is also a protective stone for children and may be worn as a necklace, bracelet, or sewn into an infant’s garment or placed in their environment to ward off negative energies and shield them from harm. It has been successfully used in reducing teething pain, and it is highly beneficial when treating infants or children for the mother to wear the Amber first.
