Blue Sapphire

The Sapphire gemstone, with its celestial hues, is revered as a stone of wisdom, royalty, and divine favour. Throughout history, it has been associated with sacred beliefs and traditions in almost every religion. Its heavenly blue shade has represented celestial hope and faith, offering protection, good fortune, and spiritual insight. This stone is not only a symbol of power and strength, but also of kindness and wise judgment.

Throughout history, Sapphire has been revered in many cultures. For instance, King Solomon and Abraham wore talismans made of Sapphire in Hebrew lore, and the Greeks wore it for wisdom when seeking answers from the Oracle at Apollo’s Shrine. Buddhists believed that Sapphire brought devotion and spiritual enlightenment, while Hindus considered it one of the “great gems” used in temple offerings. Christians used Sapphire in ecclesiastical rings, and kings and nobility cherished it for its powers of protection and insight.

Today, Sapphire remains a symbol of wisdom and royalty, and is highly valued for its mental acuity and psychic activation. Its pure blue ray brings order and healing to the mind, lending strength and focus, and providing the ability to see beyond surface appearances to underlying truths. Sapphire stimulates the Throat and Third Eye Chakras, allowing for access to deeper levels of consciousness and greater self-awareness. It is associated with the planet Saturn and promotes self-discipline, order, and structure, making it ideal for manifesting ideas into form and accomplishing goals. Additionally, Sapphire’s ability to transmute negative thoughts and energy makes it highly effective for earth and chakra healing.

Sapphire is a variety of Corundum, an aluminium oxide mineral that forms in various crystal structures and habits, from transparent to opaque. Although blue is Sapphire’s true colour, it is also available in a range of colours, such as green, yellow, and pink. Additional mineral compounds forming with aluminium oxide are responsible for the different coloration, and in the case of Blue Sapphire, iron and titanium provide its heavenly hues. Except for Red Corundum, which is Ruby, all other colours of Corundum are Sapphires.

The blue Sapphire gemstone ranges in colour from pale to deep azure or dark royal blue, to indigo, with the most desirable shade being the velvety cornflower blue, also known as Kashmir or bleu de Roi. The name Sapphire comes from the Latin sapphirus, Greek sappheiros, and Sanskrit sanipryam, meaning “blue stone.”

Despite their different colours, all Sapphires are considered stones of wisdom. Each colour carries its unique vibrational strength and properties, such as black for protection and grounding, green for healing and growth, orange for creativity and vitality, pink for love and compassion, violet for spiritual awakening, white for purity and clarity, and yellow for personal power and confidence.

In addition to its spiritual and healing properties, Sapphire is exceptional for calming and focusing the mind, allowing the release of mental tension and unwanted thoughts. It encourages opening the mind to beauty and intuition, bringing lightness and joy as it restores balance within the body. Furthermore, Sapphires are symbols of integrity and are highly effective for the speedy and positive resolution of legal matters and issues concerning justice. Overall, Sapphire is a gemstone steeped in history, spirituality, and beauty, making it a cherished stone among many cultures.

The Blue Sapphire gemstone is known for its ability to channel healing powers from higher sources, making it a popular choice among Reiki healers. It also has a unique property of amplifying healing through the voice. In addition, Blue Sapphire is commonly used in betrothal rings, symbolizing love, commitment, and fidelity.

Apart from its symbolic and spiritual uses, Blue Sapphire is also utilized in industrial applications, owing to its remarkable hardness that is second only to Diamond. Its applications include watch crystals and movement bearings, scientific instruments, high-durability windows, and insulating substrates in special purpose solid-state electronics.

Blue Sapphire is considered a powerful aid in healing and soothing the body. It helps alleviate insomnia and can be used as a purifier when consumed as Sapphire water during seasonal changes. Blue Sapphire has also been known to be beneficial in treating various physical ailments such as eye infections, fever, nosebleeds, hearing problems, and blood disorders, to name a few.

Blue Sapphire has been proven to be a valuable aid in improving emotional well-being. It can release psychic suffering, depression, and lighten the mood. Additionally, Blue Sapphire promotes a deeper understanding of the self, allowing one to express their own opinions and knowledge with confidence and clarity. It also has a positive effect on the nervous system and can be useful in treating degenerative diseases and dementia.

Finally, Blue Sapphire is a valuable tool for awakening and utilizing the Throat and Third Eye Chakras, which not only allow for inner vision but also the ability to effectively communicate that vision to others. Its strong blue rays make it ideal for treating imbalances in the brow chakra, and its quiet, mysterious nature brings wisdom and judgment to its users.
